As long as 5,000 years ago, humans have been poking tattoos by hand using stones, bones, and thorns.
The gear has improved but some still choose to use the old method, poking a tattoo dot by dot with no machine involved.
When done correctly these are as safe, and permanent as a machine tattoo. -
Aside from its place at the historical heart of tattooing, each poker gets to decide what makes hand poking special to them.
It might be part of your cultural lineage, a healthy replacement for self harm, or merely a process you love and want to make a career out of.
You choose what it means to you.
Compared to machine tattoos, hand pokes are much gentler on the skin, tend to hurt less, and can feel a bit more intimate. -
That’s up to you.
If you just want to learn how to poke a safe, permanent tattoo, I included everything you need to know.
If you want to build a career out of this, I covered that too.
Move at your own pace.
The information is all here, and it’s up to you to do something with it.
Learn, practice, improve.
That’s your part.
